Amanda Anisimova pulls out of Cincinnati due to injury

American tennis player Amanda Anisimova left the WTA-1000 series tournament in Cincinnati (USA) due to an ankle injury, the official Twitter of the competition announced.

In the first round, the representative of the United States defeated the first racket of Russia Daria Kasatkina with a score of 6:4, 6:4. The match lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Thus, Anisimova’s rival Shelby Rogers (30th in the ranking) went to the third round, where she will play with the winner of the match between Belarusian Arina Sobolenko (7) and Russian Anna Kalinskaya (69). The meeting, which will determine Rogers’ rival, is scheduled for August 18 (02:00 Moscow time).

The tournament in Cincinnati runs from August 15 to 21. In 2021, the title in Cincinnati was won by Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty, who completed her career.
