Defeat by McDonald is Nadal’s earliest departure from TBS in seven years

Spaniard Rafael Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam winner, sensationally lost in three sets to American tennis player Mackenzie McDonald in the second round of the Australian Open.

The loss marked Nadal’s earliest Grand Slam exit since January 19, 2016, when he lost to compatriot Fernando Verdasco in the first round of the Australian Open.

In the second set of the match with McDonald, Nadal began to experience problems with his legs, so he decided to call the doctors to the court. At the post-match press conference, he admitted that he thought about withdrawing from the match, but decided to fight to the end.

Recall that Rafael Nadal is the current winner of the Australian Open.
