Former world number one Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova has withdrawn from the WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai (UAE), which will last until February 25. The reason for this decision was a viral disease.
Pliskova had to face the three-time Grand Slam champion, the first racket of the world, Polish Iga Swiatek (1) for reaching the semi-finals of the competition. Thus, Swiatek reached the semi-finals without a fight. Iga’s opponent in the semifinals will be the winner of the match Corey Gauff (USA, 5) – Madison Keys (USA).
Before reaching the quarterfinals, Pliskova managed to beat Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic), Maria Sakkari (Greece, 6) and Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina.
The total prize fund of the tournament in Dubai was $2,788,468, the winner will receive $454,500.
