Sobolenko outplayed Mertens and reached the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open

Belarusian tennis player Arina Sabolenko reached the fourth round of the Australian Open. In the match of the 1/16 finals, she defeated the representative of Belgium Elise Mertens with a score of 6:2, 6:3.

The duration of the meeting was 1 hour 15 minutes. During this time, Sobolenko made four aces, made four double faults and converted four of the seven break points. On account of Mertens, four filings right through, four double faults and one realized break point out of three.

For reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Belarusian will fight with the Swiss Belinda Bencic, who previously turned out to be stronger than Camila Giorgi (Italy).
