Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam winner, spoke about competing with Roger Federer of Switzerland and Novak Djokovic of Serbia.
“I don’t know what might happen in the future. I do not know what the consequences may be, time will tell. There are several factors why the “Big Three” play longer, being at an advanced age by the standards of tennis. One of them is medicine and the professionalization of all sports. This means that the players have an extensive team and more knowledge about things that help to extend their career.
And there’s one more thing: I think Roger, Novak and I were pushing each other. We always had to put in extra effort to win. The competition between us has led to extreme mental and tennis levels and this is one of the main reasons why we continue to play for so long,” Nadal said during a tour of South America.
