Gael Monfils pulls out of Roland Garros 2023

Former world No. 6, Roland Garros 2008 semi-finalist French tennis player Gael Monfils has decided to withdraw from Roland Garros 2023 due to wrist problems.

Recall that Monfils started at the Grand Slam home tournament with a hard victory. In the first round match, Gael beat Argentinean Sebastian Baes, the 42nd racket of the world, with a score of 3:6, 6:3, 7:5, 1:6, 7:5. It is worth noting that in the decisive set the Frenchman was inferior 0:4, and also managed to win back the Argentinean’s serve for the match with a score of 4:5. Approaching the grid, Gael defiantly limped.

In the second round of “Roland Garros” Monfils had to fight with the sixth racket of the world Dane Holger Rune. Thus, the 20-year-old Rune will advance to the third round without a fight.
