Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari, ranked sixth in the WTA rankings, reached the final of the WTA-1000 hard tournament in Guadalajara (Mexico), defeating Czech Marie Bouzkova (38th in the WTA rankings).
Sakkari won with a score of 7:5, 6:4. Bouzkova scored two aces, three double faults and two realized break points out of 12. Sakkari never filed right through, made nine double faults and converted four out of 14 break points.
In the final, Maria Sakkari will play with American Jessica Pegula, who, in turn, beat Belarusian Victoria Azarenka with a score of 7:6 (7:3), 6:1. The final will take place on October 24 no earlier than 2:00 Moscow time. Both finalists previously qualified for the WTA Finals.
The prize fund of the tournament was $2,527,250.
